Our story

A mutual interest

Trendin Rhoda founders Sarah Chen and Michael Rodriguez met as students at the University of Toronto's Theatre Studies program. They quickly bonded over their love of theatre and became lifelong friends. While they followed different professional paths — Sarah as a theatre producer and Michael as a tech entrepreneur and investor — the pair still connected over their passion for theatre and culture.

A shared problem

They also mutually came to discover the difficulties and inconveniences of the existing ticketing processes for the shows they worked on. There were unexpected fees, long ticketing queues, no functional mobile options, and an overall lack of transparency that left theatregoers frustrated.

An ambitious solution

The duo saw this as an opportunity to disrupt an industry resistant to change. They teamed up in 2020 to start Trendin Rhoda, a company that modernized the way theatregoers buy tickets through industry-leading technology, innovative product design, unparalleled inventory, and frictionless experiences. Trendin Rhoda is now transforming the way Canadian audiences consume and enjoy culture.
